Arenal Volcano

I always love a good hike, and Arenal Volcano is perfect and scenic. The entire trek is approximately three hours in total. The path leads you through the rainforest and lava-covered areas of the base of the volcano. You'll get to experience plenty of wildlife along the way. I saw some birds almost as soon as I began my hike that made a ton of noise as they flapped overhead. And you'll see areas affected by the eruption in 1968. For my entire time in La Fortuna, clouds were covering the summit of the volcano. Although not very active in recent years, the volcano was one of the most active in Central America. If time allows after hiking, there is a waterfall nearby that is well known on Instagram.
